The 6th edition of Ethiopian International Film Festival will be held from 7 to 14 November 2011 at National Theatre, Addis Ababa City Hall, Agona Cinema, Ambassador Cinema and Russian culture Center.
In a week of screenings including roughly 100 films- feature, shorts, fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, classics and contemporary-are shown from around the world. A special focus is on African cinema, while the Eastern Africa Region is presented in special Focus Programs.
The festival will select and present awards for the best Ethiopian films in 10 categories: Feature Films, Documentary Films, Short Films, Director, Screenplay, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress. Also there is an “Audience Choice Award” which will give the audience the opportunity to vote for their favorite film while offering the film makers valuable feedback from the public.

6th Ethiopian International Film Festival Ends

The 6th Ethiopian International Film Festival was ended here on Monday by awarding best films in nine categories.
The categories are in the areas of best actor and actress, best supportive actor and actress, best director, best film script, audience choice award, best film of the year and best cinematography.
28 Ethiopian and 39 international films were screened during the weeklong festival.
A film called ‘Etege No. 2’ won awards in four categories namely, best cinematography, best director, best supportive actor and best film of the year.
A new film, Bethlehem, won prizes in best actor and best supportive actor categories while other films, “Hiroshima” and “Yanchiw Leba” also received best film script category and best audience awards respectively.
